Circomedia in Bristol is an umbrella organisation incorporating a wide range
of activities: international standard quality training Courses for artists from
all over the world; an extensive outreach / community programme; special events
programme and agency to provide employment for graduates; lobbies locally, nationally
and internationally on behalf of circus / physical theatre; plays a major part
in the initiation, development and sustaining of a vibrant circus / physical
theatre life in Bristol and, increasingly, the South West.

Provides workshops in circus skills across England . Has a project for disadvantaged
children called `Little Quilombo' - using circus, dance acrobatics, music, role
play and mask making to develop performances.

Zippo's Academy of Circus Arts is the only touring circus school in the UK using
a custom-made Big Top: a 'travelling circus classroom'. Students travel with
the circus for the entire course, training inside the Big Top from specialist
tutors. The course includes related elements including Make-up, Costuming, Health
and Safety and Sound and Lighting. An integral part of the learning process is
performing in front of a real audience in the company of circus professionals.
