Q1. What arts activity are you involved in and where do you access the activity?
A1. I have been involved in projects at Contact Theatre and Zion Arts Centre. I strared by reading poetry at Contact Theatre (Seconds Out) and the Iguana Bar in Chorlton. I then participated in CAN's Exodus These City Streets project as a musician in 2006. This year, 2007, I wrote a script for Exodus Sparks which is coordinated by CAN and North West Playrights.

Q2. What benefits and enjoyment do you get out of it?
A2. I've met people, made friends and learnt different cultures. As an artist you value your work according to your organic talent. The growth in the art world involves locking horns with other artists: healthy competitions. Art is therapy, its participation as a performer or viewer helps in keeping the shrink away.

Q3. What have been your biggest successes recently?
A3. The upcoming 'script in hand' performance at Contact Theatre. Excuse my ego, the play is a classic début; an impeccable theatre piece. WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!!

Q4. Who has inspired or influenced you? (especially Manchester based)
A4. I'm inspired by Brotha Talk (R.I.P. Dike), Nikki Giovanni and the countless artists in all art forms of art. Let's hustle our creativity!

Q5. Who has supported you to get where you are now?
A5. Sonia Hughes helped in developing the script, she mothered it and the tips I learnt from her means she won't have to babysit any of my future projects. The CAN team have been of great support artistically, personally, professionally.

Q6. What advice would you give to other young people interested in getting involved in arts activity?
A6. Stay humble, put a lot of time in whichever art form you persue either as a hobby or professionally. Have fun but don't get too comfortable and always keep in mind that 'a wound that needs nine stitches is supreme art' it won't hurt as long as you complete assignments before the deadline.

Q7. What opportunities can you recommend to other young people in Manchester?
A7. Ring or visit CAN, they have projects like Exodus where you can participate in drama, music or street and Africa dance, and it's free! CAN also offers advice concerning arts as they work with different organisations. Contact Theatre does workshops and auditions for drama etc.

Q8. What arts activities or events would you like to see happening in Manchester?
A8. I would like to see more youths from refugee backgrounds getting involved in projects!
image image
Q9. What do you hope to achieve in the next few years?
A9. Hopefully write a full show for theatre and produce lots of spoken word material.

Q10. What or who might help you reach these goals?
A10. Me, myself and a little advice from Dutch uncles. It's good advice but it always comes out as criticism!
