Zion Arts After-school Club Coming soon to a Primary School near YOU! OTHER NEWS ITEMS Youth Arts Starter Kit- an excellent and essential resource Launched by Artsplan this time last year, the Youth Arts Starter Kit has proven so successful that Artsplan is pleased to continue the offer this year! It's a valuable resource offering creative, practical help to anyone using or looking to use the arts in their work with young people, containing the ingredients that will support you to develop successful, informed and inclusive youth arts projects. As Virginia Haworth, Galt Artswork's Director (National Youth Arts Development Agency) explains, 'Having the resources and information to support you in your work with young people is crucial to ensuring that your project is delivered at the highest possible quality. NAYO Relaunch The National Association of Youth Orchestras (NAYO) is relaunching its website. As always it will be full of news and information for its members and those interested in Youth Orchestras and Ensembles. Throughout January it will be adding new content and updating the various sections including Festival of British Youth Orchestras, news, events and opportunities sections and a password protected members-only section.
Sonic World The Phoenix Arts Centre in Bolton is pleased to announce that they've been funded by Youth Music to run Sonic World. Sonic World is a music project designed and run by young people. The project provides opportunities for 8-18 year olds to take part in unique music opportunities and develop their personal, social and creative skills. The project is split into two parts - Sonic Beats and Sonic Studio. Sonic Beats is open to young people who are interested in creating a Junk Band. Using found and recycled objects, the group will create original sounding instruments to play rhythmical beats from influences across the world. There will be performances opportunities across the North West at festivals, carnivals and concerts. These weekly workshops start on Tuesday 22 January 4.30-6.30pm and will run throughout the year and are totally free. Everyone welcome. Sonic Studio offers 15-18 year olds the chance to create electronic and digital music, including recording techniques. Short courses are being run throughout the year at The Phoenix, teaching young people the latest techniques in digital music. There will also be tips on creating art work for CDs. Each participant will create their own CD to take away with them. First session begins Wednesday 6 February, 4.30-6.30pm and it's free. There's also the opportunity to gain accreditation from the National Arts Awards. All open workshops are FREE, so act on your instincts and Get Involved!
