Projects Manager for Creative Development at Contact Theatre

This post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of a wide variety of participatory projects with young people. We are looking for applicants with a variety of experiences that may include youth work, music promotion, community development or performing arts. The post is full-time and the salary £19,192 per annum.

Deadline for applications is 9 February 2007 at 12-noon. CVs submitted without an application form or applications arriving after the deadline will not be accepted. Please quote reference PM07 when applying.

Upasana Dance – Video Artists Required

Upasana is a small arts based a in the Northwest focusing on Indian classical dance. We are looking for video artists who would like to work in partnership with us to document the work of the company.

While we can reimburse basic costs like transport, cassettes etc., we are not in a position to pay on a professional basis. Anyone who is interested in quality experience and working with quality art in an inclusive friendly atmosphere is most welcome to join the gang!

Media Placements For Ethnic Minority Individuals: ITV, BBC & Lime Pictures: apply by 31 Jan         

Now recruiting for 20 trainees across ITV, BBC & LIME Pictures (a partnership initiative between ITVG, MTNW, BBC, LIME Pictures & NWDA) to start on Monday 26th March 2007.

The Media Foundation Placement Scheme is now recruiting for 20 individuals from the North West who will participate in a year long paid training scheme under supervision by industry professionals. The roles are varied ranging from HR assistant to production runner. This Positive Action scheme is aimed at giving individuals from an ethnic minority background the opportunity to gain skills and experience within the media industry, which in turn will help individuals compete fairly for that first foot on the career ladder!

New Youth Arts Training Dates in the North West with Artsplan
 
Artsplan, the training and publications department of Artswork and the in-house training provider of ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network) have just announced their 2007 North West training dates.
 
The one-day courses, ‘Using the Arts with Juvenile and Young Offenders’ (5 March) and ‘Using the Arts with Young Refugees and Asylum Seekers’ (11 June), have already been very successful across the country in the past year and will be running at the Cornerhouse, Manchester in 2007.

Access All Areas - Creative & Cultural Skills live event: Lowry Centre, 20 February

Creative & Cultural Skills, the employer-led Sector Skills Council, has announced a UK-wide series of live events in early 2007, the most local one will take place at the Lowry Centre on 20 February. Employers, practitioners and education providers are being invited to "Access All Areas" and take part in a major overhaul of skills and training for the creative and cultural industries.

Each event will be an important opportunity to influence the content of Creative Blueprint - the first Sector Skills Agreement for Advertising, Craft, Cultural Heritage, Design, Music and the Arts. The government- backed action plan will direct the long term supply of all publicly funded education and training for the sector.

Details of the new Creative Apprenticeship - the first recognised apprenticeship framework for the sector, currently being developed by Creative & Cultural Skills- will also be unveiled. Prototype apprenticeship schemes are being run in cities including London, Liverpool and Manchester during the first half of 2007.


Professional Development Workshops – Royal Exchange from February

For teachers and practitioners who deliver arts projects, these practical training sessions offer the opportunity to learn new skills, review old ones and experience a variety of the creative approaches used by other professionals. There are several dates including:
 
Drama for Speakers of Other Languages on Tuesday 20 February 2 – 5pm. Cost: £25 per session
IN this workshop, we will explore how techniques employed in theatre can be used in the teaching of English for speakers of other languages, and how drama games, improvisation and forum theatre can be used to encourage active learning and raise self-esteem among participants.

Clore Leadership Programme: Fellowship In Theatre Administration

The Clore Leadership Programme is designed to help develop the knowledge, skills, networks and experience of potential leaders across a wide range of cultural activity. We are pleased to announce that in 2007/8 we shall be offering a Fellowship in Theatre Administration, supported by The Gatsby Charitable Foundation.

The Fellow in Theatre Administration will have an individually tailored programme, lasting a year or longer, and starting in September 2007. This will include:

*         Two intensive residential leadership courses
*         Professional development through mentoring, tuition and group learning
*         Time for reflection, research and debate
*         A period of secondment, including experience of managing a challenging project

Dalcroze Training Weekend – Engaging Young Musicians: 3 & 4 March
 
Dalcroze (also known as Eurythmics) is becoming increasingly recognised as a unique tool for engaging young musicians both in and out of the classroom.

Dalcroze offers a unique approach to improving musical performance. It is an effective and established creative approach to musical training. It develops awareness and skill in co-ordination, musicianship, solo and ensemble performance for musicians, dancers and others.

The weekend will focus on Dalcroze techniques and learning methods, with uses and applications for Piano Teachers (March 3rd) and Instrumentalists in the Wider Community (March 4th). Both days run 10.00am - 4.30pm at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester Oxford Road. Participants are welcome to register for 1 day or 2 day attendance (£50 or £80 respectively).
