This informal and practical event over tea and cake is specifically aimed at people in national voluntary arts umbrella bodies who contribute to the creation of their organisation's newsletter, magazine and publications - in print or via the internet. Oldham Coliseum Theatre is launching it's new year long placement called Young ActingLAB, a unique opportunity to explore what theatre has to offer and kick start your career in the creative industries. If you are aged between 16 and 19 yrs and have an interest in acting directing or writing then this programme is for you. Over the course of a year you will take part in workshops and masterclasses aimed at improving your skills and equipping you with the knowledge to create a company and manage your own performance project. The Young ActingLAB is open to all young people across Greater Manchester and places are free, but you must be able to attend workshops on Thursday evenings between 6.30-8.30pm. Artsplan launches new distanced learning course Artsplan, the training and publications arm of Artswork, the national youth arts development agency, has launched a new distanced learning course: 'Working Together - Using the Arts with Young People'. Artsplan is the largest provider of specialist youth arts training courses and publications in the UK, and the in-house training provider of ENYAN (English National Youth Arts Network). All training and publications are written and supported by experienced youth arts specialists, currently involved in a variety of project work through the UK. If the course is successful, Artswork hope to be able to offer the full range of Artsplan courses within the distanced learning format in the future. JOBS ARTISTIC MANAGER VACANCY: EXODUS (GREATER MANCHESTER) Deadline: 14th December 2006, 5.00pm An experienced and dynamic Artistic Manager is sought to develop and manage a range of high quality participatory projects with Refugees and Asylum Seekers and other local communities from Greater Manchester. The role will involve working as part of the Exodus Refugee Arts programme developing and managing creative programmes of work in the Greater Manchester boroughs of: Rochdale, Oldham and Salford, as well as supporting existing programmes in Wigan and Bolton. Partnership and resource development will be a key task for this post-holder. We are looking for someone who has high aspirations in terms of the processes and artistic outcomes that participatory arts can achieve with communities. Applicants should have a minimum of two years arts project management experience and two years experience of managing projects in a culturally diverse arts context. This is a 6-month fixed term contract starting February 2007, with a possibility of extension depending on funding. Salary £22,000 paye pro rata, based on 3.5 days per week.
